Archived fuel sender plug

How do you get the electrical
plug on top of the fuel tank unplugged!!!!

sorry about that, 2001 2500 4wd TD replacing the fuel tank sending unit and can't seem to get the plug undone

iirc, there is an orange retainer that has to be slid sideways, and then the latch can be depressed and the plug pulled off.

Yep, slide the red tab over, push in two tabs opposite each other and gently wiggle the plug loose. It is a PITA if you don't have the tank dropped or the bed raised.

Thanks guys finally got it, lowered the tank a little and popped the red slider. The fuel line attachments were equally a PITA. Once dropped found the float sloshing around in tank in two pieces. replaced with new sender. Works after a year without fuel gauge. Lifting Bed wasn't an option for me but would recommed that method to anyone that attempts this fix.
