Does anyone know for sure what the differences are between a 1995 fuel sending unit and a 1998-24v fuel sending unit. Can they be interchanged? My 1998-24v has a pin hole in the return due to rust. I made it worse when i installed the FASS unit. I would like to take the 1995 unit and modify it for a 1/2" pick up, but I'm not sure if theres a difference between a 12v and a 24v... ... anyone know?

I don't know what the difference is, but would like to, I pulled my fuel tank today to change the sending unit, only to find out that the floating housing on my 98 12 valve has been beating on the bottom of the tank and wore through the strainer on the bottom. I went to the dealer and they told me that the fuel pickup unit is only sold as a unit for $450. 00 and they don't stock it.

Does anyone know if there is another cheaper way to fix this problem?

The screws that hold the sloted metal to the plastic have been wearing into the metal and I don't know how much longer they will keep it together.

The fuel sending unit just screws on to the side of the housing and is only $55. 00.

There has to be a better and cheaper way to suck fuel out of this plastic tank.

The dealer said that the strainer for the 97 is available but he didn't know if it would fit.
