I ask this question Yesterday but put it on the 24 valve by mistake. Have they improved the fuel sending unit for 94-96? I have a 95 with 78000 and mine has been bad half of that. I have been told that even the one you put in does not last long. Also these short fuel lines I have changed the 5/16 return line but what about the 3/8 is it beside the other one.

AWallace, If I can find the article posted back in the 90's it explained how you can repair the existing sending unit I will look through my articles and if I find it I will post the name of the individual that wrote it and you can do a search or you may be able to do a search by "fuel sending unit repair". I purchased a new unit a few years ago but still have not installed it, my unit is 1/4 tank off, when it reads 1/2 it is really 3/4, been that way for 9 years.

I think the quality of the fuel gauge sending units has improved. My first one was a joke. The next lasted a little longer but it died too. This one has been on the truck for four years and still works fine.

If both of your fuel hoses are not diesel rated, then they should be replaced to avoid a problem. The stock hoses WILL eventually fail.

I remember reading about that fix to the unit in one of our books. I have these stacked up in the basement back through 96 and still have to go through them quite often. Mine has been bad since the truck had about 30000 miles on it. On a trip to the New England States a little over a year ago I had one of those short fuel lines to split if I had not caught it I would have been pumped dry. I was using my mileage to check my fuel usage. Fixed it in a parking lot Outside Lake Placid NY on a Sat. after 12:00 naturally every thing was closed but I had some hose in the truck.

Thanks for the help and input.
