Can any one tell me where to get a new fuel sending unit. Is there another option other than the dealer?

Also, are the sending units fully electronic? I ask this because I am having issues with mine. I run out of fuel with a little under a 1/2 tank on the guage, but when I fill it up It takes 18-19 gal. Can you replace it with a old skool float style?

it holds 35 gallons, does this tell you something ? I think your pickup in the tank is broken . let me ask is your pump in the tank ?

Well, if the tank only took 18-19 gallons of fuel and the gauge read a little under 1. /2 tank it would seem the sending unit is functioning as advertised. It sounds like there is a leak (pulling in air) in the pickup tube when the fuel gets to a particular level. I am not well versed in the physical characteristics of this particular fuel pickup system. Maybe someone can describe how the fuel flows from the tank thru the in-tank pickup assembly.

No, as far as I know diesels don't have a pump inside the tank, it is a module with the sending level unit on it with other stuff but no pump. I have an Air Dog 100 on it to replace the factory LP.

has any one pulled this module out? Is it a possibility a tube can fall off of the sending unit? The only other thing that I can think of now that you mentioned the air leak, is the new line that I connected when I installed the air dog. I'll check out the snap fitting that was provided to connect to the tank. Thanks

Mine does... now... It's what the dealer puts in if your original lift pump conks out. I think the 05s up have the in-tank pumps too.

I would suggest that you consider on of the Vulcan Draw straws. They replace the factory pickup. Not hard to put in you just have to drop the tank and remove the sender and modify as per the instructions. It sound like other are saying you are sucking air once the level drops below the leak.
