what's involved in replacing a fuel sending unit



when my guage reads empty i only put 20 gal. in it

It's not too hard to drop the tank and replace the float ass'y. I think that you will find that even if you replace the unit it will still register empty when it's not I replaced mine because the float pivot was so loose that the gauge would go from full to empty to full driving down the road and drive you crazy with the low fuel warning chime. If you do a search on the fuel sender you will find that there's been quite a bit of discussion about poor calibration. Dan
