Ok, I have just replaced the Batts, starter contacts, shutdown solenoid, and shutdown relay. The same intermittant problem still exist. The truck may or may not start when the key is activated. Sometimes it will start but not stay running. After trying multiple times it will start and continue to run with no side affects. Has proper voltage at the wiring to the solenoid. What is the dimention for proper adjustment of the solenoid rod. The rod is supposed to be pre-adjusted, but it makes me wonder. Any ideas would be helpful!! I love electrical problems!!

I read here that there can be a corrosion problem on the wire feeding the solinoid which will effect voltage and relaible operation of the solinoid. I think its the blue wire coming off the battery but notsure on that. Hopefully someone will clear that up for us.

Solenoid adjustment specs

Measurefrom the bottom of the solenoid bracket to the top of the injection pumpshutdown lever pin. It should be 2. 64 (2-41/64) inches

Good luck you can find this info in a Haynes Dodge manual

Well cleaned terminals and tried again, problem still there so I went ahead and measured the linkage, was out of adjustment by about a 1/4 inch. Went ahead and adjusted and problem appears to be gone, but only time will tell, since it didn't always screw up. Thanks for all the help TDR you guys are great.
