I am wanting to install a toggle switch under the dash to break the circuit to the fuel solenoid, as a poor-man's anti-theft device. Has anyone done this? It would sure help to know which wire to interrupt. This is on a '93.

Thanks,

dbrimhall, I did this on my 92. There are two wires going to the fuel solenoid (one is black & other is blue). The blue wire worked for me. Just to make sure, unplug the blue wire and see if it is the correct wire.

Al,

Thanks for the reply. I was pretty sure I rembered it was the blue wire. What I was looking for was how to identify that wire out of the bundle under the steering column so I could tap into it there for the switch. Any ideas?

Thanks,

There was a great tech article on this 'Cut Off' switch modification in a past TDR Magazine. I've search all of my past issues for the article & can't find it... It's probably in the one issue that I loaned out to a buddy and never had returned.

Have you checked Dave Fritz's webpage for info on this mod?

dbrimhall, I didn't want to mess with the ignition wiring so I ran a couple of wires to a toggle switch under the dash. At times it is rather embarrassing when I forget to activate the switch and the mighty cummins turns over without immediately starting.

Keeno, Issue 26 of the TDR magazine on pages 16-17 dealt with this topic.
