Archived Fuel tank ball?

I read something about that little plastic ball in the fuel tank. Where does this go? Does it just float around in the tank freely or does it go in the sleve part of the fuel module? I dropped the tank and saw it floating around in there but don't know if that is where it belongs. Help.....

There is a little plastic "anti-siphon" ball in a cage inside the lower end of the filler tube. Perhaps it got loose and fell down into the tank.

Thanks, that makes sense, now I can see it's purpose. Now to see if I can put it back in it's correct position. Thanks rrausch.
