Man oh man, what a busy weekend. We worked on several trucks at a wrench day we had at a fellow club member's house. Anyways, we attepted to do the fuel tank vent mod. We got as far as trying to get the clip off the pump and with even the guy with the smallest arms tried, he couldn't get it off, as we could hardly see the pump. What did we miss?? Everyone that I heard that did this made it sound like a cake walk! Can't drop tank until we remove the lines. Fine, but we can't GET to the lines. So what next? The only thing I can think of is remove the bed. Any suggestions??

I'm wondering the same thing since I wasn't able to get the lines off either. Actually, I got one off but messed around with the other for over an hour and finally gave up.

i found by putting a tie strap around the barbs on the fuel line connecters and pull the tie strap tight. this makes the barbs squeeze together. then just pull the line off. when you install the lines back don't forget to take the tie straps off the lines before you reinstall the lines. hope this helps you.

That's the hardest part, but they made it easier on the later trucks. The lines are really close together on the 04 trucks. Removing the lines is the hardest part. The instructions on the spooled-up's site are very helpful. I did it by feel with my little monkey hands and arms while looking at the instructions. Of course, I was playing Twister around the wheel at the same time. :D

Good luck.

Did you try and drop the tank to the end of the bolts? That's what I did and used a zip tie to get them off. It took me about an hour messing with it.

+1 you have to drop the tank a few inches at least. I just dropped it to the ground. Make sure you take the lines off the frame before doing so.
