fuel tank mods

Hey guys I am going to drop my tank to find out why I cant get fuel out of the tank when it gets real cold. The fuel stays nice and liquid but simply wont come out of the tank I am thinking water is freezing on the screen in the tank.



I know about the vent relocation mod, but awhile back there were threads on modding a vent that sat too low on top of the tank and allowed water into the tank. I can't seem to find the info. Any help would be appreciated. !!

When you drop the tank, you will see two depressed area (one at the front end of the tank, and one on the upper back) each with a 90* nipple. I believe they are part of the gasoline engined vapor system. It does look like they could let dirt and water into the tank. I fiited them with hose and VW fuel filters when I fitted the tank vent mod. If you are dropping the tank anyway, DEFINITLY do the vent mod... really speeds up fueling and adds 3 - 4 gallons to tank capacity.
