hay guys need some help with this problem. i have done a search of the archives and didnt get the answer i was lookin for. well here we go, the fuel gage stoped working after i dropped the tank last winter. how can i tell by dropping the tank again if i need a new sending unit or if its hung up or what is going on? the float was fine last year when the tank was out but it never worked after i got the tank back in. is there a way to check if the float is hung up or if something is broke after i get the tank dropped and get the sending unit out of the tank? just looking for a way to test it before i buy parts after i get the tank out?

thanks guys

I used a OHM meter to check mine out. As the float goes up and down the resistance changes, this is what the fuel gauge is reading. I have heard of other people that have had the sending unit go bad from the float coming loose or a bad wire. You could check if you have continuity without pulling the tank if you can get the plug off and hook a meter up with it still in the tank.
