I just installed a new lift pump and can't get fuel out of the tank. Can the fuel tank regulator be the source? Any other ideas or solutions?

i have no idea what a fuel tank regulator is :D

If you cant get the new LP to prime try dumping some diesel into the fuel filter housing to fill it up first. make sure you have all the banjo tight and i hope you used new sealing washers as that could prevent a good seal. you are aware you can bump the starter and back off the key to run and it will cycle the LP for 20 seconds right?

Do this two or three times and you should get fuel. next you'll need to cap off the filter housing and crack open a few lines at the head to bleed the air out while you crank it over. once you get some fuel leaking at the head tighten the lines and it should fire up after a few more times of it.

if you dont have any diesel handy you can fill the canister with diesel treat.

Do you have a FULL tank of diesel? ie lp draw is as short a verticle distance as possible.

Loosen the tank fuel filler cap to insure there is no vaccum being created there.

Open the ff drain so you are not trying to pump against anything. IF the lp picks up fuel it will stream out the drain then close the drain. You could extend the ff drain line down to the ground into a bucket and put about an 1" of fuel in the bucket with the end of th ehose under the surface of the fuel in the bucket so when you pump air out of the lines it does not re-enter the line when the lp shuts off.

I do not know of a fp regulator unless you have put one on your system.
