I'm getting ready to install new rear springs (2nd set from Skyjacker were keepers) and I have to move the fuel tank to get the front driver side spring eye bolt out

The instructions from Skyjacker tell me to remove one fuel tank strap, loosen the other, remove the fuel filler and vent hoses from one side and then slide the tank until I can get to the bolt.

Anyone been down this road already? Advise? Thanks :)

I already figured out to get the fuel gauge as near empty as I dare before starting the job :D

I haven't looked at my Dodge yet but when I did the rear springs on my Jeep I cut the head off the bolt instead of removing the fuel tank. If there's room between the tank and spring hanger this might be a simple alternative, then just put the new bolt in from the other direction.

I remember some talking here and they said it is easier if you removed the truck bed than lower the tank. 2 guys required to lift bed off and put on saw horses.

Removing the bed won't help in this case, the bolt enters from the tank side, even if you cut the bolt you couln't get it out without removing the tank. It appears that you will have to at least drop the rear of the tank to acess the bolt. Not a big issue, a deepwell 15mm socket and a long extension, shoot it with penetrating oil first. Have fun.

Did one recently, and only had to remove the rear strap. Did not remove filler neck and vent hoses. Just loosen the front strap and the tank will push over enough to get it out.
