I just finished (well, sorta) moving my LP down to the fuel tank. I ran into some tight spaces, and therefore had to reuse a banjo fitting on the "in" side of the LP. I am looking to slide the fuel tank out of the way so that I have more room to work with these 1/2" ID lines. Is it easy enough to move the tank, or should I just forget it?

You will need to undo the two hanger strap bolts on the inside near the drive shaft to drop the tank. I would recomend draining the tank first as it will get very unwildey as the fuel flows from from end to end transfereing the weight.

As you lower it down (use a transmission jack if you have one) go slow and try to disconnect the lines while it is high up. If you let it drop too far, you might wind up tearing the plastic line holders out of the frame and bending the brake line with runs beside the fuel line along the frame.

That my experience. Good luck. ;)

If the tank is almost empty you can use a pry bar to allow enough space between the frame rail and tank to take existing line out and put in new one.

Tim,

When I removed mine, the hardest part was disconnecting the electrical fittings. If possible, see if you can find a truck where you can see what they look like before you drop your tank. You will be disconnecting those fittings by feel, and they are complicated.

In hindsight, I would have been wise to have a dealer mechanic disconnect them for me the first time. I broke one on my 1995 truck when I dropped that tank.

The rest of the removal and installation process was very straightforward. Be sure your tank is empty!

Good luck.
