Well after 140,000 miles my fuel guage sudenly starts to read in error. I know by past articles in the TDR that there is a way to fix this. I have all the back magazines but need to know the mag, number and page mumber of the article, so I can fix this prolem (fuel sender unit). I remember there were 2 different ways to fix the problem. One by removing or raising the pickup bed or 2 by dropping the tank.

Thanks in advance. :)

Can't lead you to the mag article. Best way to fix it is to replace with a new $37 sender from the dealer. There are mods you can do to the sender but I've tried them on an old sender, waste of time, I was back in the tank again shortly. I prefer raising the bed, you don't have to worry about getting the fuel level down, which can be a trick if your gauge doesn't work. I'm sure if you do a search for fuel sender you will get all the info you need.

Thanks Bill.

I know there are two different ways to do the job. Raise the bed or jack up the truck & lower the fuel tank. My truck has a cab high canopy (or topper) as some people would call it. Would I have to take the canopy off in order to raise the bed? Also is the new sending unit I buy from DC a new and improved unit or am I going to have to go through this again in a matter of 60 to 80 thousand miles?

Thanks for the reply. Your friend Dave G. :)

fuel sender

I have repaired my sender and many others with no complaints. Most I spent was $3. I would drop the tank only thing to worry about is the quick connect fuel line fittings. I tried to post my repair of this sender with no luck. IF anyone wants, I will try and find it again. But where credit is due, I only have been doing the repair I found at dodge.org. Have a Happy Thanksgiving...

Sending unit

Dave, I also have a cab high topper and I used the raised bed method. No problem at all, just remove the six bolts and fuel flex hose and there you are. It took me just a little over one hour to change out the sending unit.
