I have ordered the shop and owner's manuals but don't have them yet. How big is the fuel tank, my gauge goes to full at fill up but after 50 miles it bounces back to empty and by 80 miles or so it pretty much just flat lines on empty...

I changed the oil+filter yesterday and put in 11 qts after running it and checking the level I was down towrd the bottom of the safe zone, how much should they hold. I don't have any real level ground.

thanks

ps how do I make the profile show up?

Capacity

Hi RGT,

The fuel tanks on our trucks hold 30 gallons. But you can put a bit more in by filling up the neck of the tank. Oil capacity is 12 quarts. That is good thinking to get the manuals. They have sure helped me out.

What oil cooler? Mine only takes 12qts, 13 would over fill it.

RGT- Sounds like you have a bad sending unit in your tank. 30 gallons is the capacity but of that 30 only 25 (+ -) is usable. I've run out of fuel twice. Both times it took exactly 27. 5 gallons.

To get your truck profile to show up put it in the signature box.

tank sender

:( Most of our trucks suffered from bad senders at some point. The replacements are better and the harddest part about changing them is getiing all the fuel out. I just lossened the tank and tipped it a bit and changed the sender without removing tank. Nice to have a fuel guage! Tim

I finally got it on level ground and 12 qts put me on the full line.

It does seem like my sender, when I come to a stop or go down a steep hill the gauge jumps a a bit. I think I will wait untill I am putting on the flatbed to change... Thanks
