Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Fuel tank strap broke...

Hi all,



Notice today that my rear strap holding up the fuel tank sheared off, causing my tank to fall several inches downward. Scary after the long drive I had taken! The strap actually sheared off at the joint between the strap and the clasp that fits into the frame rail support.



Anybody else ever heard of this happening? I filled up the tank a few days ago. Maybe this more expensive diesel fuel is too heavy for the metal straps?

I had that happen a few years ago. I put a ratchet strap on it till I could get a replacement.

Ive had it happen twice, once ona 90 model and once on a 94. on the 94 just welded it back together.

Same here, just removed the broken strap and welded it.

Mine broke... . I put a floor jack under it and welded it in place. I wanted to make sure it was where it was supposed to be.

Thanks all. Will try to order the new strap first; if it is too expensive I'll break out the welder.
