Got a friend with a 2002 1/2 ton gasser, hope this ok. Quad cab short bed, has a 24 gal gas tank. Wants to know if the 35 gallon on a long bed will fit. Too many stops at the gas station when towing (Should have bought a diesel).
I agree that the 34 gallon tank will fit. The model year 2000 parts catalog (should be the same model year 2002) shows five different fuel tanks - gas, diesel, 26 gal. , 34 gal. , & 35 gal. There is only a single pair of part numbers for the pair of straps that hold the five different tanks in place. The gassers also use fuel tank shields that are tank size specific.
My only question is what is the difference between the 34 gallon tanks (not modules, etc. ) on the gassers and the diesels.
