Isn't it just a matter of attaching a few inches of hose to the tank vent/s? If so, what's the details of the process? (diameter hose, how long, slip on or hose clamps, etc. )

The two hoses on the vents is what the dealer does. I got 6 feet of 1/4 inch fuel line, a "T" and a clear fuel filter with 1/4 inch ends. Hooked the hose to the rear barb, ran the hose along the top of the tank to a cross member, cut the hose. Then hooked the hose to the front barb, and ran the hose to meet the rear hose, cut the hose, "T" them together. Cut a 3 inch piece of hose and hooked it to the third leg of the "T", then hooked the fuel filter to the other end of the small piece, and finially hooked the remaining hose to the other end of the fuel filter and ran it up into a hole in the crossmember. Tucked it all away. Done.

I would still take it in to be done,if a problem occurs that can be attributed to it not being done you won't be happy. ;)
