On my 99, which I imagine should be about the same as your 98. 5, there is a rollover valve on top of the tank. I figured this out a couple years ago when I kept hearing a hissing sound coming from my tank when I had the cap tight, then it would quit when I unscrewed it. The rollover valve was clogged up, someone on here posted a nice little diagram of what it looks like and how to get to it. Popped it off and cleaned it out, it vents properly now.

I replaced my fass pump and I would get fuel at first and then it would stop. (I may not have needed a new pump#@$%!)So I took line off tank that the pump pulls out of the tank, put a air hose to it and when i did the tank pressurized and spit fuel back out when I removed the air hose. When I took the fill cap off it hissed badly. I put the cap back on kept putting air in and must have cleared it out that way because It stoped pressurizing I get good fuel pressure and no hissing when I take off the fill cap. I would like to get the info on taking it off and cleaning it properly though. I did a search but didn't find any info on this.

ISB Low Power Fix

There is a picture of what you will see on top of the tank. I remember it being kind of frustrating popping it out. I guess since it's exposed to the atmosphere it can get debris and such in it, which is what happened to mine. Hope this helps

Yes it does help. How did you get the vent off to clean it? Is it just a rubber grommit like and just pry up and off?

thanks for the reply

Don't quote me but I wanna say its a 1/4 turn installation(think marker light socket) I've had this problem twice in one year, I added a small rubber hose pointed down on the side of the tank and haven't had the problem in a few years.

thanks for the info. I am going to have to drop my tank i think because it seems to be having problems getting fuel when the tank is lower than half. Ill just completly clean the tank and maybe put a large draw straw on while im at it.
