Ok, maybe somebody can tell me what are the two small (VENTS?) on the top of the tank? One is on the front (lower) part of the tank and the other is on the higher part of the tank. Just wondering what these are, because as far as I can tell they are just open to atmosphere. And plus wouldn't they leak fuel if the level was to high in the tank. Just some questions that I have.

Also what is this tank vent mod everybody is doing, is it something that moves the main vent to the highest part of the tank?

Thanks again for all your guys input!!!! Oo.

They allow air in the tank as fuel is used.

No because they function as a roll over valve in case the truck turns over. Air will go in but no liquid will come out. Just to be safe I put a filter on that vent.

Yes

Snoxracer,

The most important benefit of the vent kit, IMHO is to prevent the ingress of dirt and WATER into your fuel tank. Shame on DC for this stupid and potentially costly oversight.

I took a gamble and plugged both of them a week after I got my truck. To date, I haven't noticed any problems from this except that when I remove the fuel cap, there's a slight pressure escape.
