FIRST TIME POST I WANT TO REPLACE MY TANK WITH AN OVERSIZE. I WANTED A TRANSFER FLOW BUT THEY TELL ME IT HANGS TOO LOW FOR MY 2WD 3500. AERO TANKS SAYS THEIRS

ONLY HANGS 1 INCH BELOW THE FRAME. DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANYTHING GOOD TO SAY ABOUT AEROTANKS? I KNOW THEY DRILL THE FRAME TO INSTALL, IS THAT REALLY A PROBLEM WITH OUR TRUCKS? MINE IS A 96 AND THE FRAME WAS DRILLED TO INSTALL THE FIFTH WHEEL HITCH.

First, welcome to the TDR. I am amazed that someone hasn't answered this one yet. Maybe no one (including me) knows about aeroflow tanks.

I would check the holes where they drilled for the 5th wheel. If they haven't cracked out, it would be a safe bet to drill for your tanks.

I had heard that the 01's were the last year for steel frames, and with the new ones, there would be an alloy frame, which is why they don't recommend welding. We welded the gooseneck hitch in my and my dads 01's, but haven't done any drilling. Yours is old enough for that to not be a problem, maybe they could weld a bracket instead of drilling.

Sorry I can't be of more help. Good luck, Scott

I used the Aft Transfer Flow tank. True, you loose the spare tire location and if you don’t feel right without a spare, then you would have to find another place for it. I figure I’m riding on two spares and can limp to get one (or two) repaired). Also, the extra weight of the fuel in the back helps the ride.
