Trailer Connectors???

Towing combo that rocks!

It's the Flyer again with a question for our home audience.

Has anyone installed an AeroTank 50-T auxillary fuel tank? If so, do you have a picture you can email me. Can the installation be done with basic tools (drill, sockets, allen wrenches, screw driver... )? How long does it take to install and can it be removed easily if it is not needed. ( I occasionally haul stuff and need all the space I can get)

How much was the tank, how long did it take to get it delivered, and does it come with all the parts necessary to install it on a diesel truck (I have a 2001). Are you happy with it?

Any info would be appreciated. I just tried to call them and it is after 5 pm CA time so nobody answered.

I haqd the replacement 60 gal tank installed by them. $739 and it took them 4 hours to do it and fits in the same cavity as the stock 35 gal tank.

We're traveling now and that extends fill ups to about 600 miles apart. I'm very pleased with this set up. :)

The tank I want fits in the bed behind the cab. Does anyone know how it is mounted and where I will have to drill holes? Does the fuel gauge read the quantity in that tank when it is in use?

I have ordered an American Tank as they do not extend above the bed rails so as not to interfere with 5th wheels etc.

Yes: if you tie the aux tank ino the truck fuel system you will have to drill holes for fuel tank mounting, fuel lines and wiring.

If you just want fuel on board you could just get a refueling tank. Install a transfer pump, manual or electric, stop and pump fuel from storage tank to truck's tank. This would only require drilling mounting holes.

I got the 60 gallon tank from Northern Tool and set it on a piece of plywood. I think drilling holes in the liner is the better way for you. For plumbing I rubber hosed it into the filler neck, both drain and vent lines. Ball valve on the drain line. Drilled holes in the filler neck and screwed in 14" hose X 1/8"NPT, generously gooped with JBWeld. While I was at it I removed that pesky check valve in the neck.

Works for me!

I've got a 45 gallon Aerotank vertical in bed tank in my '93. The way I installed it it takes up about 12 inches behind of the bed. Actual installation took me about 6 hours plus another 4 to plumb a fill door in my canopy. Aeros instructions were not the greatest but it was still an easy install. As for the fuel guage I wired it into the existing sysetm using a toggle switch - supplied. The switch over valves are manual - which I prefer - and mounted where I can reach them while driving. Hope this helps.

Happy trails:)

TDR Issue #35, page 126 has an article by Joe Donnelly on the installation of a Transfer Flow tank. While it's not the make you are considering, it's insightful reading.
