Here's the deal guys and gals, right now I have the truck all torn apart getting ready to mount up my aluminum flatbed. I took the fuel tank off because I want to drain it out just to see what 160,000 miles worth of fuel left behind if anything. The more I think about it I would like to find a higher capicity tank the mounts in the same spot. Transfer Flow DOES NOT make one for our trucks, however I believe that Aero Tanks does make one. Has anyone got one of these?

Am I just fuel hungry?:rolleyes:

Thanks,

Chris

The truck I just recently purcahsed form a TDR member has a transfer flow tank that sits where the spare tire used to sit. It is plumbed in to the existing lines and has a switch on the dash for going from main to aux tank and the fuel gauge works for both.

Chris DiRado

92 Red label D250 Club cab,NV4500,transfer flow tank,16cm2 housing,gauges,and lots more.....

Thanks for the reply Chris. I like the Transfer Flow tanks except for the fact that they don't make one to replace the stock tank. Once I get this flatbed on I'm gonna put that damn spare under the bed where it belongs instead of in the bed!:mad:

I would like to see some of ya @ Scheid on the 22nd, but I don't think that my truck is gonna be ready yet:{

Aero does make a replacement tank for 1st-gen trucks-50 gallon for the standard cabs and 55 gallon for the clubcabs. It says that it is very hard to install though. I think it's because it extends toward the middle of the truck over the driveshaft.

:confused:

The fuel tanks formally made by Transfer/Flo that were installed where the spare tire is on the 1st gen. trucks have been discontinued. Awhile back I had asked if they were still available as I wanted one for my "93". I had seen one of these at a Camper World a few years go and it was a neat installation. I too am interested if anyone knows if there is a company someplace that still makes these for the 1st. gen. trucks.

Terry H, thanks for the response, however I don't think that I will use a tank that reads "Very hard to install. " I'm not sure but it probably wouldn't fit b/c of the GV being in the way. (I had to drop the GV and driveshafts just to get to the fuel tank off:mad: )

For now I guess that I'll probably reinstall the stock tank, I guess that 30 gal will have to do:rolleyes: , after all its done for 160,000 miles!

Philip, go ahead and get ya a nice bed to mount up. It'll only hold your truck up for 3 weeks and counting... , and it'll only cost ya... . (I'm still adding:rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes: ) Tomorrow I'm taking it to a Line-X shop to have the whole frame inside and out coated with the stuff. :D

Now I am certain that it will not be ready by the 22nd:{

Fuel Findings

I had bad visions of a gallon of water and cup full of dirt to every gallon of Diesel, however to the contrary, the fuel that I dumped out today was better than what came out of the fuel pump (thanks to Stanydyne fuel conditioner):cool:

Matter of fact, it was so clean that I'm gonna dump it in the tractor!;)
