I had a problem this morning with the Manifold Heater. The rubber booties on the studs that bolt up to the manifold heater housing were melting & very hot after I started the truck. Something was shorting out with them causing low voltage in the battery system. My question is, as a quick fix I cut the 2 power leads from the positive terminal of the battery that lead to the blocks below the battery. Is there anything wring with that?

There is nothing dangerous about what you have done as long as you taped or capped the end of the wire coming from the battery. However, your grid heaters won't work now which could be problematic depending on how cold it is.

You probably either need new grid heater relays or something is wrong with the circuit that triggers them. The relays are on the frame just below your driver's side battery. Try unplugging the two small wires from each one and then checking continuity with a multimeter across the two large posts. If you have continuity, then the relay is shot, if not, start checking the small wires for voltage with the ignition on.
