New member here. I have been watching this board for about the last 2 years and have found it to be very informative and interesting. I bought my first Dodge Cummins about a year ago and have been so very pleased with its power and fuel cunsumption. I have one of the very early 94`s (built 10/93) 5 speed. My question is at about 2250 it begins to smoke fairly heavy and am not sure why. I have adjusted the star wheel 20 clicks looser since I got the truck and did notice a difference in throttle responce and some light smoke on a quick take off. I have since move 5 clicks tighter 3 times, so I am only 5 forward from where I started. I do beliese someone has already moved it forward some since it was new. It`s now at the forward side of the plug window. I was wondering if the smoke at 2250 is the result of someone moving the factory cam plate forward from it`s original location. It is really not a big problem being that I am seldom at that speed, but just wanted to get some input from some people that seem to know thier stuff. I do hope to get a plate from tst later on,but am for sure not displeased with the way the tuck does now. I am just about to turn 52,000 ,but I really believe the truck has more miles than that on it. I just haven`t found anything solid enough to prove it. Sorry about this being so long, I just really like it here and my tuck. lived, breathed and thought about it for 3 years before I got it. Guess you all probably think I a bit nuts,so maybe I am,haha. Thanks again to everyone be safe and enjoy.

David,

I understand you liking it here. I hung out here long before I got my truck and had all my high performance add-ons planned before I even found the truck.

Explain the smoke you are seeing at 2250 rpms. Is it black smoke or white smoke?

I've seen white smoke caused from a bad overflow valve at high engine speeds. It could also be fuel restriction of some sort.

On the other hand, black smoke signifies a lack of air. Check your intercooler clamps and make sure they are all tight. Check your air filter also.

That's all I can think of right now, I'm sure others will chime in with all the stuff I've forgotten.
