I've begun tracking my fuel mileage using Fuelly.
It reports back exactly what you are getting for mileage along with the usual other quick numbers like total fuel used, cost per mile, average mileage etc.
It's an awesome way to know exactly what is happening with your fuel and there is no arguing about accuracy assuming you can read and enter a couple of numbers!
By the way, my trip computers in the truck are incredibly accurate so far, with a maximum reported difference of .3 mpg over the "hand calculated" numbers...

I'm glad yours is accurate. Mine not within a row of out houses. Varies from dead on to + 3.5 mpg. It's never pessimistic, only an optimist.

The only time when the gap between my fuelly calculations and EVIC are the smallest is when I'm towing heavier. If I'm bobtailing home, the gap can be anywhere from 1.3 mpg to over 2.5+ mpg----if not even more.

Sounds like they {FCA} must have re-wrote some of the code for the EVIC's calculations on the 2016 MY trucks. In lots of my fuelly notes, I mention EVIC mpg's and document overall average mph's as a reference.

Good idea to record the EVIC calculations in the notes!
Thanks,

The only reason I ever did was that some owners on other sites, with the same model year truck as I, claimed the EVIC as the gospel. Due to the EVIC (IMO) being so erroneous (at least on the '13 & '14 MY's), I opted to begin including it in my fuelly notes. One guy even said his "Trip A" EVIC said, for example, he was getting 18.2 MPG when his Trip A stats were 485 miles and he pumped in 30.5 gallons. If he was getting 18.2 MPG.....he'd gone 555 miles. What happened to the 70 mystery miles??? :-laf Or....if he was getting 18.2 mpg....what happened to the other 3.9 mystery gallons of fuel??? :-laf

I've got over a million miles worth of logs. With the advent of overhead economy displays I simply added those figures into the record. A It really doesn't matter what my mileage is, the truck is a tool. I use mileage records as one indicator of engine health. A sudden change in mileage indicates a problem that requires immediate attention. My2cts.
