A buddy of mine that owns a 93 4x4 cummins asked me if I knew how to turn up his pump today and we broke out the tools. The only problem is that we couldn't find the full power screw with the collar! In it's place was a 12mm bolt seated in a 1 1/8" steel block where the screw should have been. I have tuned up a couple of pumps but have not run into this before. Any ideas on how to get full power adjustment with this pump?

Any help will be great.

Thanks, Steve.

OOOh boy... . Sounds like a farmer fix... #ad
The length of the bolt is whats important so you pretty much have to measure a stock bolt and the installed one to see if they are the same length from the seat to the tip. Then you can adjust it up or down, depending on the mods. I don't know of any repair shop that would pull a bolt out of the bin for a power adjustment screw...
What does the rest of the pump look like?? I hope thats the only abnormal part!!!

Well, the rest of the pump was unaltered and looked pretty norm. As a matter of fact, the boost bolt on the anaroid looked as though it had never been off... So, i'm thinking... was this a factory fix or change? I have never seen this before and and hesitant to tweak or try to remove the bolt and see what's up. Your guess is as good as mine!

If the threads are OK, I can't see how removing it or adjusting would be a problem. If there are no threads left, I guess you'll have to get a longer one or find a stock one to up the fuel rate. Fix the farmer fix?
You don't need alot of adjustment to get a good kick. I only turned mine about 1/3 of a turn in from the stock setting, still have the collar on!!

Lil'Dog,

Not really sure if i'm fixin' a farmers fix but something is pretty different with this particular pump. I'll take a lookie at another pump tomorrow and see if it at least resembles the pump in question in the back.

I'm still stumped #ad
