Is there any word yet whether Dodge will offer a full size crew for the '05 model? I'm ready to make the switch from Ford... just need to get my truck cleaned up and sold.

I was told by a Dodge dealer over the weekend that Dodge can not come out with a full size crew cab. They said that when D/C was ailing in the 70's ol' Iaccoco(how ever you spell it) sold the patent rights to the crew cab. The closest that Dodge can come would be 10% larger or smaller. I have no idea how much of that is true but at least it's some sorta info.

I have heard this as well, I never had the nerve to post it though. LOL:D

Hmmmmm... Ford = crewcab... . Chevy = Crewcab... . who exactly would hold the "patent"? My common sense meter is pinging.

I am glad to hear that you are ready to upgrade your Ford.

Sorry, but you will need to wait. Word on the street... . 07, +10%, and Not Crew but mega sized..... I hope to see it myself at the North American Auto show next year.

patents, schmatents...

Why not just build a four door pick- up and call it "a four door pick- up. " Hell, all the big 3 make a "pick- up" and they each call it such. "A rose by any other name... "

Make a 4 door Dodge and I'll buy it whether its called "Crew Cab" "Brew Cab" whatever... I'd buy one even if they named it "Mulva. "

EDIT: Apologies to Jerry Seinfeld:D

I believe the dealer as much as I can bench press my truck. I figured I'd get a couple of responses like this but thought I get more grief about owning a Ford. It's all good. :-laf

Thank's. I feel so warm and fuzzie inside now. :D

Thanks for the info. Well I'm not going to wait 'till '07... might as well buy my truck now! I was sorta hoping the cab size would be increased but either way I planned on buying a Dodge so I might as well throw that 4sale sign in the window.

Dodge is selling the heck out of what they have now. Note delays with new orders.

This "Dodge can't build a crew cab because of patent" sounds very much like "Ford owns Cummins" dealer BS.

I tend to agree with klenger..... Dodge is selling all the Quad cabs they can build... . why spend the $$$ it takes to develop a Super Crew whatever, when what you have is making tons of $$$$. Even though I'm sure other people want and need something larger, I am happy with my QC... jmho

now. Carlsummers

why spend the $$$ it takes to develop a Super Crew whatever, when what you have is making tons of $$$$.

A few good reasons to produce a larger cab would be found in the principles of business competition and market flow. And, I want a larger cab that will better accommodate my needs.

For now the cummins is keeping me with DC. Thats just for now. ('')

(sarcastic)

Dodge wont make enough money off the true crew cab, thus they will not make it.

Most of you bought the crew cab version in these trucks, if you dont like it so much why'd you buy it. Thats how chysler thinks.

BTW, ford loses money with all those damn set-ups they have for there trucks

Chysler simply cant afford to lose there ass like ford can

MSwanson... if you want/need a bigger cab... buy a newer truck...

I see by your sig and readers rig pics that you have an '01. The newer "quad cabs" offer quite a bit more room than the '02 and older "quad cabs". My '04 is significantly larger than my dad's '99 on the inside.

lets put it this way. I am 6'3-1/2 " and yesturday while detailing my truck i just wanted to jump in the back seat because i had yet to do that. There is alot of room even for me.
