Heads up if ordering online from Summit Racing

I remember reading threads about concern the Fumoto drain valves holding more oil that pulling the normal plug.

I just got done changing over to Schaeffers S900s 5w40, and decided to pull my Fumoto to ensure a "full" drain. I got a total of about a dozen more drops out by removing the valve... not a vast amount like I was suspecting.

Just a little FYI for those thinking the Fumoto holds extra oil in the pan when draining.

Cross drilled mine also during my first oil change.

What I was getting at is that cross drilling/modification of the valve is unnecessary. The unmodified valve doesn't hold any extra oil in the pan versus pulling the plug.

Thanks Steve, mine has been in since the trucks first oil change and I do not plan to take it out anytime soon. We're always going to have a small amount of oil leftover with bypass filter lines.

There was no difference with the 3rd gen... maybe the 2nd gen pans are different?

I was disappointed nothing extra drained after taking the time to pull the valve (waste of my time)...

even if there was half a quart, it's not going to hurt anything

I tend to agree...

However, if you are trying to get as much out of the system to change brands/types, the more you get out is better overall.

That's the whole reason I brought this to light, I changed from dino Rotella to Schaeffers full synthetic... wanted a clean start.
