Well 1st time i've had a chance to post pictures, i got a set of 37" goodyears for my cj7, 8 lug, so I had to see how they would fit on the dodge:D

Looked really nice, filled wheel wells, just a bit big...

On the back if you have a utility bed a little triming it will fit no prob.

On the front... well not so easy, bumper could be trimed easy, but the back of the wheel well is where the fight would be.

Might go with a set of 285s, for the next set of tires instead...

Hmm. . eight lug cj's running 37's? I need to spend some time up that way, sounds like it must be some good jeepin'.

I replaced my 235/85's with 285/75's for my trip south, I wanted to do some beach running in WA. The tires and truck worked great. I calculated my speedometer/odometer is off by 3. 7%, so I just figured that in at fuel stops, and with the way they drive down in the world a couple MPH over won't matter.

Try the 305s

I just finished up my stock Michelins and put on Toyo Open Country A/Ts in 305/70x16. They ride very nicely for this type of tire . . . only the VERY slightest bit rougher than the Michelins (which were as smooth as oiled glass on the expressway at 80+).

I haven't put pictures up yet, but you can do a search on Nitto tires and find a picture . . . looks the same as the Toyo. Size is PERFECT, by the comments made by onlookers at the tire store.

:D

Kinda hard to drive with that jack under there too, eh?

That new 7" skyjacker lift would probably make those hummer tires work. I keep looking at those through the fence at the guard base next door, but I figured if I got started with them, then it'd be the snorkle kit, then the turret mount, then the ugly green suits...

Somebody stop me!!!

Like BigMo said the 305X70's fit perfectly on the stock chrome wheels - even the spare fit between the rails.

With 4" lift, they fit right under. Because there a 12. 50, you can mount them on a 8 1/4" wide rim. The Hummer rims are 8" wide. Only problem, there Goodyears. Mine are the GS-A. Hate them. Out of round, and won't balance.

Lots of cool thoughts... so many cool things to do to the truck... so little time and money...

Brad- Nice truck... the 37s look sweet!

Good thing my cj7/hummer tires are in NY and i'm in alaska an a poor grad student, otherwise I'd be getting a 4" lift kit:D

What gears are you running with the 37s?

Nice thing about the hummer tires is you can pick them up pretty cheap, best deal i saw was $100 for a set with 60% tread. I got ones with 90%+ tread but paid a bit more...

Brad...

I still got to tell ya that your truck is the absolute sweetest looking 94 I have EVER came across. Your attention to detail is shown all over it and the hard work put into it is. I agree with the Blimp tires and how useless they are, maybe Sleddy will sell ya those unwanted ones he has and does not like. Keep it clean and shiney, makes me work harder when I have to park near you... ..... Andy

P. S. -Now if I can only figure out how to entice you into selling it to me for a second truck.

P. S. S. -Hope you have no more "mysterious" rattles to solve before I smooth the finest 94 towards my garage and its new home next to mine.

Luke, I am currently running 3:54's. That works out to final drive around 3:08's. Way to tall. Have 4:56's and new posi unit ready to install. Should work out to 3:90's. Went to your web page. Lots of nice stuff there. Have to check some of your links. I need some 6 bolt rims for my 68 Dodge 4X4 dump truck. Has Dana 70's front and rear.

Andy. What "mysterious" rattle? :D :D :D

Brad

B KIRK... . sweet ride. I just did the lift thing and running 315 Goodyear MT/r's. The guy at the Four Wheel Drive whearhouse told me I couldn't run 37's unless I went with the 7" lift???? Is he cracked or what?

Also still have the 3:55's and I need a change to get back to the "sweet-spot" in rev's on the Hiway. I see with your 37's you indicate 4:56 to final at about 3:90's with the 37's. I would really like to hear more about your observations.

Again... . very sweeeeet!

William

William. My rims are 8 1/4" wide. That keeps them in factory location. With your 10" rims, you are adding 2" positive offset. This will move the center of your tire 1" out. This will cause tire to rub fender when turning.

As far as gearing, here is a chart that will tell you what you need. Just use your stock tire height and gear ratio to find RPM's. Then use your current tire height and find same or close RPM's. This will show what you need to get back to stock. Your rear axle should be a Dana 70. You can go to 4:10's with current carrier. Anything lower, you will need to change it. Same with the front Dana 60.

I like 3:90's final. Good to tow with, and nice when empty on the highway.

Brad, Thank you... I've gone to the link and crunched the numbers. I believe the stock Mich's LTX were just a bit over 31" and sence I have an Auto I assumed the 30% less RPM to see an RPM range that seems very close to what I was seeing before I made this change. Your most likley correct about stepping up to the 37's with the offset I'm presently dealing with.

It's too bad I can't sqeak out the 4:27 ratios without changing the carrier. I'm looking at a boat in the near future that I intend on towing. Are you most positive about the need for a carrier change to obtain anything lower than 4:11's? I'll never want 4:56's as I do run the hiways most of the time but the 4:27 ratio is a very neat ratio... . I wasn't aware of it before you brought this to my attention.

William

Try this site. They may be able to help you. It's a free call. Some of the aftermarket companies make a thicker ring gear to make up the difference in carrier offset. Don't use a spacer. Also, if you end up with 4:10's, check the TDR classifieds. Lot of members want to swap gears.

Brad

Got it... thanks again I'm sure with all this homework I can get this thing up and running correctly soon.

I just got a digital camera today so I'll get some pictures so you can see what I've been working on.

Brad you've been a great help :)
