Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) funny 1-2 shift

howdy all, how about this one. Got a 1996 2500 4x4 (auto).

From a start the trans starts off in first as it should, however when shifting to second the trans kinds of falls into gear. This of course is not every time. If pressure is let up on the throttle right before the shift then it is normally smooth also if hard in the throttle the trans shifts fine. There are no other shifting problems in any of the gears. Just a 1-2 and 2-1 slippage. I looked in the forum and did not find any other occurances of this however I could have missed it. Any ideas that anyone has would be appreciated. (I have cleaned and also replaced the TPS on this vehicle)

I had a similar problem --- take a careful look at your "kick-down" cable and linkage. My problem was a loose clamp bolt on the arm that links the cable to the transmission.
