A few weeks ago I installed a pyrometer in my 98 12valve along with a 60 psi boost gauge. For power I tapped into a white bulkhead under my steering column by just pushing my wire into a given slot. Now, this gave me my accessory power but my gauge lights were incredibly dim and the pyro read 1300 MAX EGT on a stock truck. eep in mind that an HY-35 was also put on my truck recently so things would be considerable hotter(long story btw :)). OH... and my pyrometer also kept rythm to the radio :-laf. Anyhow, this weekend I had some time freed up so I did some rewiring. I hate cutting into wires on a vehicle so I rigged up a switch that runs through an inline fuse off the battery and everything works great. With straight 12volt power my gauge lights are awesome, my pyro no longer keeps the beat AND at idle it's only 250-300 degrees instead of 400-450(WOT maxes at 900 also).

With that said I'd like to be the first to confess to stupidity and with hopes things didn't get screwed up internally, I hope I'll know better for next time.

Just thought I'd share my story,

Mike
