funny noise under boost question

for the last week or so my truck when under boost makes a loud ticking noise(over 20psi and it sounds like detonition but louder) did some poking around under the hood and found exhaust soot on the head behind the turbo. guess i have an exhaust leak. i put a wrench on the studs and they wernt loose. would a leaking exhaust manifold make a odd noise under boost? with the truck idling it sounds normal and i dont see a leak. it's going in next week to be fixed. thanks... . james

It will sound like ticking first on throttle. As it gets worse you'll hear it at idle, too. I don't think you'll have any issues with it by waiting a week.



Sounds like a good opportunity to get yourself an ATS exhaust manifold...
