Coming home today from a show I was on cruise at 70mph with a g/n with 2 horses and a ford past me with a similar g/n with 1 horse. I said o-well I am getting better gas milege. #ad
I was getting to the rolling hill part of the highway and there is one long grade that is about 1 miles long. The ford never really got to far in front of me,but as I started up the grade I was amazed how fast I over took the ford (like he was braking)and as I went by I didn't even smile. #ad
Sorry for so winded but I just thought it was funny. have a good one!

Gotta love it! My Dad's PSD with lower gears and standard used to pretty much smoke me when we were pulling together. Then I bombed #ad
Now if we're pulling together, I have to stay out of it so's he can keep up #ad

Two week ago I was coming home from Utah (towing)and I got some lousy fuel that slowed me down about 7 mph on the passes. Well, I still passes a PSD pulling a car trailer like he had his brakes on! He had his head propped on his hand like he was bored stiff. He looked a little envious when I went by! All I have to do is wait for a hill to pass those downhill racers!

Back before Dodge and Cummins got together, I had an '84 Ford 6. 9. A buddy I often traveled with bought an '88 Ford 7. 3. My fiver was 2000 pounds heavier than his so he would just run away from me on the mountains------Then I bought a '93 Dodge/cummins. When I told him things would be different, he had a good laugh telling me I was dreaming if I thought that "little" 5. 9 Cummins would pull with his 7. 3.
When I had about 1500 miles on the Cummins we took off on a trip together. About 75 miles into the trip we came to a long 5 or 6 percent grade. He was in front grossing about 2k less than I did. We came to a passing lane and you should have seen his face as I cruised past him. I thought he was going to tear the steering wheel out.

In '97 he bought a new "POWERSTROKE' he told me with great glee that next time we went somewhere he was going to "wax my ***", well when he had a few miles on it we took off for Arizona and again a couple hours into the trip we came to a long grade with passing lane and to my surprise as well as his, again I was able to pull out and pass him. This time he did not look at me and he has never discussed the event to this day.
My '93 was completely stock, but it ran real sweet (still wonder why I let it go), and I do feel his '97 was not up to par. but sure was fun!!!
That was the last trip we made together and I think passing him is the reason.

Say merryman, sounds like your friend was a real hardhead. Maybe just a little slow on the uptake? How many big trucks run "Cummins" brand engines and how many run "Internationial" brand V8's? Now, I realize a semi doesn't have the same size Cummins we have, but it does tell us who's gonna build the engine with the best pulling design. #ad
DUH! #ad

I've just got to buy me a trailer, or at least find one I can borrow on weekends!

Was heading home from Talladega on I20 East of Birmingham.

Thinking I wanted to take it a little easier going home (617 miles) than getting to the race, I was tooling along about 65mph pulling the 30' 5th Wheel TT. A Ford PSD pulling a 30-34' TT passes me going down hill and pulls in front of me. Going up the next hill, he starts slowing down. I thought he was taking the exit so I kick the cruise off and drop speed - left lane had traffic coming up. Well, he passes the exit, tops the hill and heads down another with me on his tail. Same thing happens at next hill - he's blocking the right hand lane and I'm about to be blocked in by oncoming traffic.

I just drop down to 4th and hit the go button. Lost him and never had to mess with him again.

I won't even talk about the Chevy diesels and gassers I passed.

Cummins is great! I'm stock and still not afraid of a DuraMax!
