Hello my name is Seth. I am a new user looking for some help. Sorry its kinda long. I have a 02 dodge. I installed a banks Power pack on this truck about 3 years ago. The powerpac came off a 02 that i crashed. The truck i crashed ran great. As soon as i put the powerpac on the new truck it began to miss. I sent the banks computer back to banks to have it checked out. They said it was all good. I just assumed the vp44 was dying. The problem continued to get worse and worse over the 3 years. It had thrown several codes in this time i cant remember the #s one was a map sensor which I replaced one was cant communicate with inj pump and a tps code. I had a shop put a new vp44 on the truck. The shop got a rebuilt vp44 from some place in Utah that has them rebuilt in California. After replacing the vp44 the truck ran great. It had never had so much power. For 2 weeks it ran good. I loaned the truck to a friend and when i got it back it had all the same symptoms as before i had the vp44 changed. No power and missing. The truck dose have a 4psi warning light that dose work. It had flashed at me one time for a second or 2 and never came on when my friend borrowed the truck. I have since put a fass pump on the truck. I took it back to the shop. He plugged his laptop and was looking at the tps readings. The throttle only went to 60%. Also the graph dosent stay steady it jumps around. The jumps in the graph coincide with the miss. You cant feel the miss with the Banks stuff hooked up. The Banks stuff seems to be amplifying the problem. We put a new tps on and have tried 2 other tps with same results. I have checked connection. and grounds. I can find nothing wrong. the truck has not thrown any more codes. I was told to have the computer reflashed so I did it didnt fix it. All the banks stuff is currently unhooked. The shop is now saying the ecm is bad. What do you guys think it could be. I want blame the vp44 because the truck ran great for 2 weeks. Why wont it throw a code. Im afraid of rebuilt ecm's Ive heard nothing but horror stories about them. The guy at the shop Im dealing with is a real honest guy. I dont think he is playing games at all. He has been more than helpful. Im just worried a ecm wont fix it. Is there a way to check the vp44 on the truck?

Thanks Seth

The best way to verify the operation of a TPS using the OBDII, is a Chrysler DRB scan tool.

The aftermarket scanners have a hard time communicating with both the Chrysler and Cummins ECM/PCM.

Were it me, I would get the trouble shooting trees for all the possible TPS/APPS codes and run them. That will tell you for sure if it is the ECM or a wiring issue.

Have you done the proper TPS/APPS re-calibration?

Yes, there is a way to check the VP44 on the truck.

1. Find someone who has the tool to hook up to it.
2. Do a search on here on the VP44 wiring and testing. It will tell you what wires to check, what the results should be, and what wires to jump for testing.
