I've been noticing (for the last 6-7K) a funny squeeking noise - hard to describe - seem to be coming from the driver side front wheel area. Noticable at slower speeds, parking lots, smooth or bumps don't seem to change anything. Kind of a medium slow squeeky thing... then goes away at speed or I just can't hear it anymore. NO driving quirks.

Anyone have anything similar or suggestions?

I hate taking it to a dealer, but will if I have to. It doesn't sound serious but don't want it to turn into anything bigger.....

I had a major CREEEEK going on with the steering at full lock at slow speeds in parking lots. I assumed it was u-joints (or possibly wheel bearings), which is a big job (for me). But just to try a cheaper alternative, I considered the possibility that one or both springs might be flexing slightly in their mounts. So I liberally applied some white lithium grease (from a spray can) to the top and bottom spring mounts. Creek disappeared within a couple days and hasn't returned.

hmmm... it sounds like some metal spring related clanking thing... but its a strange one, can't pinpoint it. Its subtle but just loud enough to annoy. Has nothing to do with turning, straight, bumps or smooth same squeeky squeeky from 5 or so up to about 20 mph.

Thanks for the grease tip. I've been thinking it needed grease, but didn't know where...

could be the brakes not backing off, if the weel were the noise is comming from is hotter then the other this would be the first thing I would check

Good call by Duffy on the dragging caliper. But I would expect the truck to pull noticeably in the direction of the hung caliper.

The suspension bushings are not high quality. They are simple rubber pieces that are easily prone to noise (and sloppiness). But they would tend to make noise only under specific circumstances, such as going over a bump or during tight turns. If it's a constant noise, that strongly suggests something that is rotating causing the noise. If so, the likely culprits would be the u-joints, the wheel hub/bearing assemblies, and the brakes.

I just had the same noise happen to me @ around 50,000 mi. . Sounded almost like there was a piece of metal wrapped around the drive shaft and it was hitting the side of the fender, only fairly quiet. Turned out to be the front U-joints. Dealer replaced under extended warranty and the noise went away.
