Ok - I don't have time right now to wire up a kill switch, and don't really need one too often... . so using the (hopefully) attached listing of Fuses... which one do I remove to deter someone stealing my truck while its parked for a week? #22 - 2amp Ignition switch feed?

Edit..... sorry for too small a table... not sure how to resize it

I think I would do it via the starter relay there in the fuse box. Put a loop with a swith on either side of that relay will make it impossible to start.

2nd Try at Fuse listing... ... also - yes I'd like to build a kill switch, but for NOW is there one fuse which will help deter a thief?

Edit... I give up... looked good in preview...

I pull mine out all the time, it's the 3rd one down on the left side of the fuse block. I just put the fuse in an empty hole in the top row. It'll fire while the key is cranked, but dies when you stop cranking. It's habit now if I'm unsure of my surroundings...

Get a Ravelco and you will never have to worry about having your truck driven away again. Nuff said.

Great advice if I lived anywhere near a Ravelco dealer and wanted to spend big bucks... ... but still doesn't help me pick a fuse for possibly disabling as a short term fix... as noted above.

Champy; Sorry, didn't realize you were not proximal to a dealer. They will send instructions for self installation but I would not attempt it after seeing the professional do it and it took him almost 2 hours. I guess the point I was trying to make is that a thief will come prepared with a replacement fuse. My friend used a gutted relay fuse just to trick the thief when they pull the fuse box cover off and see ALL the fuses in the right place..... where to start??? Hehehe. Either way, good luck to you.
PS: Ravelco dealers will meet you half way for extra fee of course... and the peace of mind is worth the one time expense of $400 to me anyway. Very competetive with other alarm systems that dont work worth diddly and were easy to bypass. Ravelco had engineers try for 8 days to get around the device and they were unable to do so. You could get a Rotwieler or a box of poisonus snakes... . put a sign in window... that shud work too. :-laf MAJ D

There use to be a loop wire inside by the fire wall that could be cut and a switch installed, like on the manual transmissions. Is that still there?.

I do have a Ravelco but I like the idea of an additional disabling switch. I might look into a magnetic switch in series with the OEM clutch switch hidden somewhere under the dash. I am willing to bet that very few thief carry around a magnet. :-laf

Thanks everyone... ... looks like its a go for pulling Fuse #22 short term. Good idea to put in a dummy fuse as well. Biggest issue for me was not wanting to mess up the ECM or other modules by disconnecting the wrong power source.

On a related note... ... . since I have an automatic I cannot use the clutch safety switch wiring to patch a cutout switch in ... ... . other suggestions I saw referenced the Neutral lockout for the transmission..... any other ideas for splicing a cutout in?

Just blow a fuse and use that for your dummy. Someone trying to steal your truck is not going to go to the trouble of looking for the blown fuse.

This, or using the start relay are good ideas. What are the chances a thief is carrying a replacement?
