To save others the trouble... ... . I just got off the phone with Edge Products and the connectors on the 2002 map sensor are different than on the 2001 trucks so the 2001 EZ will not be able to hook up to the map sensor receptacle. Edge said they just figured this out today and are designing a new one that should be ready next week. :( :( (not that i was trying to install a EZ that would void my warranty)

LOL, we where just discussing this on another thread. What shape is the Map sensor now, V for void :D ???

OK, now what? I've already purchased an Edge EZ that's labelled for a 2001 truck from an Edge EZ dealer. Will PE swap it out for a 2002 EZ, or do I contact them for a MAP sensor adapter and use my current EZ?

Rusty, I think you bought that EZ from me at Kerrville... ... Call me later this morning toll free at 1 888 279 9168 and we'll get it straight. :D

Solution?

RustyJC,

If I can ask... . what was the resolution for the EZ? Is there an adapter available? I too already purchased a EZ and when installing it I noticed the connectors were different. I called Edge and they said they had just figured that out themselves and were going to design a new harness and send me a new EZ. What was your resolution?

Thanks,

Ray,

I got tired of waiting, so I just called Edge Products and talked to "Taylor". He says they have a 2002 truck "on order" and that it will be at least 2-3 weeks before they get their arms around this situation. He says that, regardless of whether they change the EZ harness or supply a MAP connector adapter, they will have to procure molds for the new connectors, and this procurement has a lead time of at least 3 weeks. Of course, if they don't have a 2002 truck yet, they can't reverse-engineer the connectors. His advice to me was, "Hey, check back with us in a couple of weeks. "

Did you verify?

Rusty,

Did you verify that the map sensor plug is different than the one supplied on the EZ? I'd hate to be the one that missidentified the plug and caused everyone to wait around. If I'm looking at the right connector it appears it's different. Tell me what you think? Also, I was told today by my vendor that I could still run the EZ without being connected to the map sensor connector if I didn't install the boost elbow. He said that the map sensor connector just fools the ECM when you get over 21psi boost. What do you guys think about this? I've not got up enough nerve to install it like that yet. I sure hate to wait three weeks to a month to use this baby.

Thanks,

It may take more than an adapt-o-kit to get a box functioning properly on an '02. The '01 models had a new MAP sensor with different plug and signal output. Pre-'01 output was 2. 0 volts at 21 psi. The '01's are 2. 5 volts at 21 psi. Somebody is going to have to bench test a MAP from an '02 to verify the output.

Ray,

After spending 2 hours this morning figuring out how the MAP sensor plug comes apart (you push up on the red locking tab from the bottom), I was able to confirm that the 02 plug is different from the 01 EZ connector. The 02 plug is larger, more rectangular (with rounded corners) and has wider pin spacing.
