EGT Probes??????????

The earlier thread on egt probes got me think ing about the 2646 that i was sold by one of this sites advertisers. I called Autometer a few min ago and asked them about the gauge and probe #'s. They said that 2646 kit was not reccomended for diesel application. Accuracy +/- 200 deg and probe would not hold up well to diesel ex. particulate erosion. If one was used it would have to be post turbo.
They recomend 2 1/16"gauge #3365B ( "B" is black bezel, black face/ red pointer) with probe #5244. this setup is 0 to 1600 deg +/- 25 deg

<font color=blue>Always use the probe #5244! If you compare it to the others you will see that its a much more quality piece. And yes it costs more..... I think mine was around $80.

Also always use a 0 to 1600&deg; EGT gauge... a 600 to 1600&deg; is useless when you goto shutdown. <font size=-2>

I agree the Autometer #2646 is not for our applications. Its the 600-1600 degree gauge & thermocouple combined. It will be useless. Somebody should let Bullydog know.

I have what Kat is running. Autometer Ultra-lite P # 4365, 2 1/16" 0-1600 degrees, w/ thermocouple # 5249.

Kats T-Couple is the better one.
