G-56 Trans

Just wondering what the fluid capacity of the g-56 is. Getting ready to change. 20k mileage 2006 3500 drw, thanks...

I put 7 quarts in. 6 will put it slightly below the fill hole and typically, these transmissions like to be just slightly overfull.

it is 7 quarts, one over full to lube and cool the front bearing. get one gallon of synthetic syncromesh sae50 transmission fluid and one gallon of 5w-30 synthetic syncromesh transmission fluid and mix them togather giving one quart left over. really improves shifting, quieter and lower temp.
