Not sure that this is the right place to post this!?!?

Witch brand, and model of G. P. S. do you have? how do you like it, and do you have any problems with it? The unit I need is a hand held that can be used anywere, and be water prof! I really don't know what fetchers I need! Maybe you guys can suggest some?

I use a Garmin Quest... installed a hard mount in the truck but it pops out, is pocket size and has a 20 hour internal battery. I have an early model, new ones have more memory which is a plus. I like it!

I have the Garmin GPSmap 60cx, use it almost every day. Haven't used it in any towns or cities, so I don't know what it's like for road directions. Does really well out in the boonies, battery lasts about 2 or 3 days when left on accidentally, not fazed by rain (haven't put it under water though). Plus it takes regular AA batteries, not some stupid rechargeable, so you can be away from a power source for awhile (just carry a couple batteries). Costs about 450 bucks though.

I just got the Garmin 760 for my birthday 4 weeks ago from my wife. Haven't had too much experience with it yet, but we did take it on a one week trip with the 5er and I've used it around town. I really like so far. It's loaded with features, like bluetooth compatable, voice commands, best possible route between points and much more. It has a built-in lithium battery that plugs into your truck power take off, plus it has an AC charger. You can hand hold it or use the windshield suction cups. It has a 4. 3" screen.

Don't buy a Magellan GPS. I hope they fired the guy that wrote the software for mine. Then again, I got a good price, or so I thought when I bought it. Garmin next time. My kid will get my Magellan.

I've heard the same thing a few times. TomTom makes a good unit, however I'm not sure they're any better than a Garmin.

I had a Garmin years ago (in 2000). It was great. I then discovered GPS for my laptop. Now I just use that in the truck. I have no need for a handheld. I gave my old Garmin to my Bro in Law. He still uses it and likes it. If I ever get another hand held it will be a Garmin.

All the above!

I would look into the Garmins. The main thing would be to pick one that is compatible with all the different maps water nav, land nav and street nav. Not all of them let you use all the diff. types of maps. but the add ons do add up. It may be cheaper to by 2 or 3 basic units that cover the diff. types of navigation

For uses like that I'd suggest looking at either the Garmin Etrex Vista Hcx or the Garmin 60Csx. I have the Etrex Legend Csx which is the same as the Vista except the Vista has a magnetic compass as well (would come in handy for the hunting, etc). I use my Etrex in my truck on my street bike and on my off road motorcycle. It's waterproof and I've crashed MANY times with it on the bike (including flipping it over) and it's still working great. I have street maps, topographic maps, and trail maps loaded in mine. Very easy to use and fills all the needs I have.

Dont buy the Maxx Digital GPS. I did. It worked for TWO 300 mile trips & then stopped working. I contacted Maxx & they said ship it back for repeirs. I have been trying to contact them now for four weeks . They wont answer messages Or e-mail. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! BAD PRODUCT!!!!!

I have a Garmin Rino 530. The really cool feature is the ability to "Poll" others to see their position relative to you. It saved me several times last snow mobile season when I got separated from the group. Just poke the button and you can see where they are. Contact them on the radio and rejoin without having to chase a moving target. Obviously your needs will dictate your equipment, but this is a feature that I didn't fully appreciate until I had it.
