Just got a call from the dealer. Looks like they want to do a reprogram on the computer. I have a feeling this is the AV flash that I have been reading about. The dealer said something about there being a DVD that explains what is up with the reflash. I'll update after Tuesday.

Got the G30 recall done a couple of months ago and now I am throwing P2000 codes on a weekly basis. (Prior to the recall--truck ran great, no codes, MPG at 14). After the recall MPG sucks at 13. 2. Dealership has no clue what to do about this. I am not sure what the latest flash is or if it would make a difference. Any one got any suggestions or solutions to the P2000 after G30 recall?

Thanks

P2000 code is for the NOX Absorber Efficiency below Threshold. The NAC (NOx absorber Catalyst or what most of the time is called the catalytic converter) absorbs the NOx and the SOx gases as they pass through the exhaust system and hold the until the next regeneration event. The reason that this code shows up after the G30 recall was performed is that the code was not monitored for a fault until the G30 recall was performed and the new O2 sensor module was installed. The O2 sensor module monitors the o2 sensors and sends a message to the ECM if the O2 sensor parameters are out of specs. If the Technician that did the last mobile regeneration happen to reset the NOx absorber counts (this happens alot) then this might contribute to the problem of the code setting. If the O2 sensors are removed and cleaned per TSB# 11-002-07 then this might help the problems ,I say "Might" because this don't always solve the problem. Some times replacing the O2 sensors help but not in all cases. Dodge is aware of the problem and I hear that Redesigned O2 sensors are in the works. Your ECM program should be up to the "AX" level. The DVD does not explain the reason for the new flashes but it does explain about the exhaust systems on the 6. 7 liter engines. I would highly advise anybody with a 6. 7 liter engine to view the DVD. It is good info and they are free!!! (how often do you get a freebie from Dodge?)

Update

Just got the truck back from the dealer. They did the TSB 18-013-08 to try and fix the P2000 codes. Only time will tell.

Me too. I've been throwing the same P2000 code for about 7 or 8 months now. My third O2 sensor is on order and should be in next week.

Ok I haven't said anything about my P2000 code problems as I really don't want to jinx myself here, but here's where things are at for me. I got the P2000 code at 500 or so miles. I took it to the dealer, they blew out the O2 sensors and reset the code, 200 miles later the code came back. This time I pulled the O2 sensors myself, blew the snot out of them and reset my own code and for the past couple thousand miles I've been P2000 code free. I think I've got it licked and that the service person just didn't get the majority of the soot out of them first time around. Depending on how you blow them out you can find hidden pockets of soot.

Well, not even 10 hours after I wrote that, the P2000 code is back and this time it brought a friend. No noticeable change in vehicle dynamics though. I knew I shouldn't have said anything ;)

Dont know what type of "redesigned" sensor they are coming up with but it hasnt seemed to solve the problem. Im heading to the dealer for the second time for the P2000 code. 100k cant get here soon enough for me so stuff can start falling off.

I hear ya Diesel Lady. P2000 code back again today after a new O2 sensor was installed a few months ago. Neighbor up the road did the deletes on his truck and is very happy. I'm just not a big enough gambler to give away my warranty but I'm getting closer every time that little yellow light comes on and its emissions related. 70,000 miles to go. HaHa.

So not to ruin your day, but it's not just about the emissions being a pain, If you think about the fact that the way it regens is to turn the injectors on, at the bottom of the exhaust stroke, you would realize that every time it does that it washes the oil off the cyl walls and helps to wear your engine out much quicker. This was my deciding factor. I bought my truck in 07 and paid top dollar. So I don't want it to wear out any time soon.

Didn't ruin my day at all. LOL. That thought has crossed my mind alot. Along with all the extra soot crudding up the rest of the system. Intake, turbo, coolers, etc. Dont get me wrong, I love my 2011. But in all honesty, if you ignore all the creature comforts, this truck doesnt hold a candle to my 95. 278000 miles trouble free. That 5. 9 was never touched for repairs, only wrenched on for mods and routine service. I doubt I will make it to the end of my warranty before doing the deletes. Funny part is, my 2010 gave me the same problems. Totalled it with 46000 miles, figured that dodge would have those issues worked out by now. Thats the frustrating part. A co-worker has an 09 and drives it like a lil old lady and hasnt had a single check engine light yet.

Well I had a 99 that ran awesome, and got great fuel economy. But if your willing to put some money into your new truck, you will love it more than your old 12 valve.
It's either that, or give up on diesels all together. You won't find one without all the crap on them now, so you can just do it now. Or do it later. I chose to do mine sooner. Like at 7000 miles. The truck runs awesome. You will wonder what took you so long to do them once you delete it.
Yes it will cost you some $$ to get it done so it runs without problems. But well worth it. ")
You might want to go do a search for guys who have done deletes and how they feel about it. ")
