I can't find it... . anyway, how much power can the G56 clutch hold? I know they're all built slightly different, but was curious what everyone was getting before their clutch started to slip?

Thanks!

Nick

My clutch never slipped with the TST CR-R49 on any level with the truck empty (only other mods at the time were air box and exhaust). Of course, I was not doing any boosted launches, heavy towing, etc. After adding the EZ stack, the clutch started slipping in 5th and 6th gear under heavy throttle. Since adding the SPS 66 turbo, I've had to turn the chips down to the lowest setting until the double disc fund comes through. It seems like after it slips the first time, it continues to lose its holding power each additional time it slips. On a positive note, after turning the chips down, the clutch never slips, and seems to hold fine even while towing.

When the clutch slips, it is first felt in the clutch pedal... the pedal feels like it is sticking, and has to be pumped 3 or 4 times to get it to release from the flywheel. I think they say the stock G56 clutch is rated at about 800 ft-lbs... any more and you're on borrowed time. Hope this helps! --Eric

I've dynoed 421whp 768wtq on my stock G56 clutch. Since then I've added the Smarty and it's definitely making more power and so far so good on the clutch. I'll dyno later this month. 22,000 miles on mine so far.

You'll notice the clutch slip in 6th gear first or with a trailer/load.

I just dynoed today at DDP. It made 512whp 921wtq on the stock G56 clutch. That was with DDP 90hp inj, TST on 3x1, Smarty on 90hp w/timing. It doesn't slip when empty. I'd bet that it would though with a load or pulling a good mt pass in 6th though. I'm sure if I drive it hard with this setting it won't last long but for now it holds fine. I'm half tempted to see if I can get 1000wtq out of it. ;)

I've been working on my buddies mega cab G56 and I'll know more about the power toward the end of this week hopefully. But I can tell you this I've got a downloader and a pressure box on this truck thru the 1/4 it'll run 13. 41 with a 1. 96 60foot and the clutch is not slipping one bit. :--) Now I know this same setup on a 5600 will slip the clutch with just the downloader I'd really like the know what they've done with the new clutches.

wow thats amazing mines not even trying to hold whats in my sig. so bad im afraid to dyno it. i need it to last a few more months. mine is barley holding on the tow setting.

Same here... I didn't think I was to the 500+ hp mark yet with just the TST/EZ stack and a sps 66 turbo, but I can easily slip the clutch on anything higher than 3/3!

Wow, my NV5600 clutch slips with TST on 3/3 and everything else stock. Think I'm gonna have to do some clutch shopping this winter!!!

This clutch is holding great I just don't understand it the reason I post here is to see if anyone else's clutch is holding up this good. What kind of clutch are you guys going with????

I just put Southbend OFE in mine I'm thinking maybe i should have done a FE instead... . But i do alot of heavy towing... . Other than that it feels like the truck has more power in stock form just switching clutches... . The power is actually getting to the ground now. . :D :D

That Dual Mass Flywheel it something else(glad i dont have it anymore)... Oo.

My clutch held great too, even with the TST on 9/9... that is until I put the sps66 turbo on. As soon as it hit, the clutch was toast. These clutches seem to hold good for a while, but after they slip the first time, they get weaker and weaker. I plan on a double disc from southbend in the next couple months...

If/when mine ever goes, I am pretty sure I will go with a SBC dual disc.

Of course the current mods are what it will stay with for a long time to come.

The 2001 is more of the 'toy' ;)

well my stocker held enough to get 2 pulls out of it yesterday at Kauffman's motorsports in PA i did 555hp/1016tq. but i had to pump the clutch 4-5 times and still force it into reverse to get off the dyno.

well with my 120hp injectors and smarty on 30hp my clutch seems to be getting worse and worse. thinking about sbc double disc so i have room to grow power wise. is their any other clutch that will hold 600hp?

well my stocker finally took a dump. was out driving around with my new smarty on sw 9 and it slipped with a quarter throttle run while in third.

well a buddy of mine wanted to see how the throttle response was on the smarty so i let him drive. well needless to say he drives and auto. it slipped so bad he couldn't get it out of fourth and he came to a stop in fourth gear with whats was left of my clutch still "engaged" if you want to call it that. i guess it acted like and auto for him then

boy am i glad i will have my new clutch tomorrow :D

I used the Superchips programmer at the highest performance setting, have a 5" turbo back exhaust and an Airaid full intake and have slipped the clutch no less than three times. This was empty by the way. At this setting the power comes on very hard and fast. The slipping has always happened in 6th gear. I have 35" Swamper SSR radials with 4. 10 gears. Sounds like some fellas have had pretty good luck with theirs, but I have to say I'm kinda disappointed with mine! Any suggestions for a good replacement? My brother said it's a pain to R&R clutch packs in these trucks. Anyone had experience replacing theirs?

i think the kit i just did this weekend was very easy compared to some i have done. plus it gets rid of that junk dual mass flywheel. if you go to the product info thread i have started a review of it. i will have some pics soon.
