did the first transfer/transmission change at 10k ...

G56 took approx 6 1/3 quarts of fluid ... to the bottom of the fill plug

fluid was exactly at the bottom of the fill plug when new (yes i checked it the day we bought it)

was the "add two thru the shifter" problem corrected later?

there were VERY few shavings on the magnet (haven't towed any yet) ... i am happy with the results

gonna wait 20k more before changing again ...

fwiw i purchased a little yellow "filler tube" made of soft rubber that screws on in place of the cap on mobil 1 atf ... got it at wally world for 99 cents ...

cut it off about 2" and it just laid in the elbow at the down pipe ... just stick the tube in the filler hole and let it drain the quart jug dry ... Oo.

I'd be interested in the additional 2 quarts through the shifter also. I have an '07 on order and don't know much about the G56. Do you still have to add additional oil through the shifter?

There was just another thread about this. It explained (I added some detail I have read over time) Some of the first 200 or so G56's were put together with a dry bearing. By adding 1 quart they were able to get this bearing "wet" on all the units sitting on the dealers lot. That was all the TSB was for. Sounds like everybody is filling the G56 to the bottom of the fill hole.

thanks ... missed the other post ... or more likely, read it and wasn't paying attention ...

pleasantly suprised when i just laid that quart jug in the downpipe elbow and it drained perfectly ... sweet
