Shipping will be based on how backed up your particular ramp was and the availability of transports, plus if there is a full load ready to go to your dealership.

If I could die with my fingers around the throat of a design engineer, I'd die a happy man.

Thanks for the update, Rick.

oil levels

I have seen simular snafu's with Caterpillar equipment. Whenever we get a new machine at work we have 2 seperate people check all fliud level. One checks it before start-up and then one after 4 hours of use. You would think for a million dollars that Caterpillar would send out a new piece with all the necessary fluid topped off.

Are you saying that we should add 1 more quart of ATF +4 over the factory specifications or that the factory left out 1 quart?????

Open the fill plug, and level should be to bottom of plug. Install plug and add one quart through the shift shaft hole.

Haha. . I wonder who's gonna be the first one to "BOMB" their fill hole so they can put it all in at once. :-laf

According to RRT #05-006 from DC, point #5, you "Add 1 quart of transmission fluid, p/n 050132457AA, through the shift fork pivot pin hole using a pump" , and #6, "Install the shift fork pivot pin and tighten the pin to 110 Nm (80 Ft. Lbs. )"

Apparently somebody goofed when figuring out where to drill the fill hole and did it too low on the case... . "for want of a nail... ... .....

I wonder how many transmission failures there'll be when people get their 30k done at a Jiffy Lube, Oil Changers, Wal-Mart, or any other high volume oil change location?

I bet a lot of these trucks get sold and the new owner's aren't told about the special fill procedure, and you can be *sure* that those places won't know.

I'm confused. I thought MB has been using the transmissions for a long time. Why would the fill hole be any different for a Dodge?

Now come on. This procedure sounds ridiculous. What's the real scoop?

Don't know that this is not the "real scoop". After all, this is not the first time this exact problem has surfaced ... albeit on a different rig.

As to why all of a sudden it's a problem, I will go with someone else's suggestion that the greater HP and Torque makes a difference... but otherwise I'm just as much in the dark as you.
