Have all of you read the ratings Blumenthal gave the G56 .

Sounds like a much better unit than the 56 Honey???.

Check it out on page 94.

Mac

The article said 6 qts. but that you couldn't get it in through the hole on the side -- have to remove the shift tower to drop it in from the top. Sounds like a hassle.

i've also heard that there low on transmission fluid form the factory... Wonder if i should take off boot cover and add some? But how am i to know how much to add?

You can get the extra quart in by haveing one side of the truck driven up about 1' higher than the other. And I like the gearing, I dont think that it hurts my milege either.

I exploded my g56 but i was also sled pulling but still im not real impressed chrysler took it apart and said that the bearing races were blue from all the heat I will probably end up putting a nv in my truck.

im really happy with my g56, but the dual mass has to go and it will with the new con fe. it is great for speed shifting though.

I can't understand why DCX hasn't brought out something in the 3. 42/3. 55 range for the G56 crowd... get it down into a more "street" friendly animal...

I know I've been thinking about ridding myself of these 4. 10s in my 5600... driving all around sucks until you're loaded... but for me, that's not all that often.

Exactly. Thought of several ways to slow down the motor on the highway, especially unloaded. A Gear Vendors unit is about $3k, front and rear diff changes also rather costly. Taller tires will keep me from parking in the garage.

Can't help but think that slowing down the motor on the highway would increase mpg's.

Would it be possible to just change out the overdrive gear and lower the final ratio? None of the possible solutions are exactly easy or cheap, but I would probably jump on a higher ratio for the #6 hole. Something to drop the RPM about 700. Maybe a new 4,5,6? Just split a little farther? I have been wondering about this for a while, the Gear Vendor I think is good for 500 RPM (20%)???? Just not quite enough for me to justifiy the cost. O Heck while I am dreaming I just want a new gear for every hole but the bottom one :p

Bigd6. 6 did that transmission let loose with the 3850 in it or was it the stocker? Just wonderin cause that is the clutch i plan to go with!

With the 3850 in it you would think a u joint would let go before a transmission but o well chrysler is going to replace it i think if not i am going with a 5600 i already have one and have already had it in and it will work with very little mods if you are going to sled pull get the iron giant i wish i would have.

If you can stick to 70 and under, you can pull down an easy 18MPG with easy shifting and not racing the truck. I just figured my mileage tonight. 36 gallons of fule, for 688 miles and I got 19. 1MPG. That is pretty good for a truck this size. I realize an auto has beeter overdrive gearing, but you still need to rev it higher in order for it to ****, and that wastes fuel. But man, the truck is right in its sweet spot at 60-70 (Cummins recommended sweet spot) and the truck just flat out never needs to come outta 6th gear. Scotty

I was thinking exactly the same thing, Mac. I thought it sounded like marketing material. It was so glowing it sounded almost placative.

Am I the only person who hasn't recieved issue 53 yet? It's scheduled to be my first issue - save for the free introductory issue.

Which Is my point exactly. Imagine that "sweet spot" in 5th with one more gear to go. You could run the bottom five back there in the colonys and when out west you would be able to drive the LEGAL SPEED LIMIT and not go broke doing so :-laf :-laf
