I have just finished installing four gages and would like to connect the gage lights so that they come on when the headlights are turned on and, if possible, also operate off the dash dimmer. But if that is too diffucult at least have them operate with the headlight switch.

How do I do this????

Any and all help will be appreciated.

George

The easy way is to tap the closest light wire that is controlled by the dimmer. If you want to do it some other way, then you need to tell us what year your truck is. Then someone who has a service manual for that year can give you the location and color of the wire you need to tap.

if it is an 01 it is the orange/tan looking wire at the bottom of the connector, just did a set of gauges today and that is the one that i used.

the easiest way to connect is go to auto supply house and get add a circuit. remove fuses 5& 8 plug in the add fuses then plug in the fuses you removed into the add a fuse. connect the red wire from the add fuse to power the lights.

Thanks FourBarR -- This works perfectly.

I would have replied sooner but we have been busy watching Hurricane Frances. It turns out that she has gone east of where we are (Alabama coast) so we can breath easy - at least until Ivan gets closer.

Thanks again for the hint.
