Stupid question. Can I used a galvanized plug in to plug the hole that will be left by the AutoMeter Fuel Pressure sending unit while it's sent in for repair?

I can't seem to find the orignal banjo bolt. Cleaning my garage since it's a blistering 50 degrees and sunny out today, I may still find it.

It may not be a problem for the short term , being that your a neighbor MN , your getting at a min. 2% bio-diesel by state law .
And bio reacts with copper , brass , galvanizing .
So its a mater of %s , how much ? how long ?

All diesel fuels react with galvanized materials... they do not suggest any fittings or fuel containers that contain zinc around diesel... I'm guessing that the little amount of galvanized material used in a pipe plug might be OK for the short term but not for the long haul... .....

they didn't have any of the non galvanized stuff at the hardware store I went to. ok, good thing I didn't break a $5000 motor with a 69Cent part :) I'll find the right part or find that stupid original banjo bolt.

you should come out and hang with us CTD guys on university when it gets a bit warmer out. Fun to beat up on the under powered "racers" :) Tho, you may have out grown that kinda thing. :)

if you really need to use that galvanized pipe plug, just grind down the bottom of it and wire brush as much of it out of the threads as you can. . you will be ok.

If memory serves, the threaded part isn't galvanized so only the part of the plug that would extend into the port needs to be polished off. Today's fittings have a pretty thin layer on them anyway.

University av. is one of the longest streets in the metro , maybe you could narrow it down a little ?
Brass is copper with 3-7% zink .
