Cheyenne convoy to Greeley dyno day

RMTDR and friends DYNO DAY in Greeley CO.

Hey to all who attended the Lie Detector event at GAM on the 16th, Bruce and I want to hear from you. If you ran your truck or if you attended to watch, we want your opinions, comments and suggestions to make this the premier dyno facility around. :-{}

Did you like things the way we did them? :D

Can we do something better or add something to the mix?

We are searching for your help to get this to be the Bomb!

We welcome your input and will consider everything you send in.

Thanks for attending and let us know what you liked or how to improve!

LaserBob (for Bruce/GAM)

Bob,

A few things from working the back side of the trucks for the day:

1. Weld on a second stove handle on them exh. tubes. They're tough to wrestle onto and off the exh. tips and I burnt my arm a few times before I grew a brain and put on a sweatshirt. I still had to be real carefull, the shirt just bought me an extra half second of warning.

2. Adding a second stack on the opposite side of the door so that end of the pipe doesn't even need to be dealt with for each run.

3. More crew members for swapping out throughout the day. The few that did come and go thru the day were a big relief. I would volunteer to set up a schedule for the next time to figure out when people are available to help.

4. Try not to smile so much driving all them trucks all day! :D

Bob,

1. Shop tour would be great. I know Bruce was not quite ready for that, but it would impress a lot of people.

2. We got to start doing a sign up schedule for assistance through out the day. It seems like the same die hards always doing the grunt work. Thanks to those guys, you know who you are. We could not pull this off with out them.

3. We need to be more organized for parking, put up some signage or have someone designated to tell people where to park. The lady from the dirty book store came over and asked about getting the first row open for her customers. Her boss was going to call a tow truck and she talked him out of it if we could get that first row opened up.

4. It would be nice if we could get more vendors, businesses or people with diesel related items to show up with displays, booths or just a table with stuff for people to look at or purchase. Is there a Hooters or something like that in Greeley?

5. Maybe a parking lot guard so someone does not steal Jake's beer next time.

I am sure I will think of a couple other things. Thanks to everyone involved in making this the Best Dyno Day I have been to yet.

My suggestion is from the other side of the fence (people that didn't make it).

Next time, someone distract the ol' lady and tell her that weekends are for play not work :D .

Sounds like I missed out :( . On a positive note, my truck has some new goodies coming and I will have the yard done in a month, so I will have more excuses why I need to go to the dyno.

Matt

All good ideas.

I think that quite a few that said they would come and help out didn't show. A sign up sheet with assigned times would be much better.

Shop tour next time would be awesome. Bruce already told me that next time he would have that available, so he is a step ahead of all of us!

I think the parking actually worked out pretty good. That one little incident was the only thing and when we went out there to look there were only 4 trucks parked in bad spots. The rest were all good. I think that woman (lady? From the adult bookstore? I'm not thinkin so. ) could have given me a buzz just from her breath. I sweet talked her for a bit and told her how much we appreciated her and she calmed right down.

As far as vendors, I had lots of businesses that wanted to come out, but Bruce didn't seem real open to that when I talked to him about it. He really wants to get his own business more into the diesel end of things, plus I think he just wanted to see how things would really go this first time. I just left it at that and respected his wishes.

I know exactly where Jake's beer went. The Mexican family in the house south of GAM were having a good ole time with it when I went over there to take down my big banner. They had music playing and all. I know they appreciated your donation Jake. :-laf Actually, some from that house came over a time or two trying to sell things to a few of our dyno folks that were out in the parking lot.

Overall, I think the event went great and was a big success. GAM made some money and we got some good dyno results. Trucks went in and out smoothly, other then the little dyno glitch, which I thought was fixed in record time!! I think everyone was pretty happy.

Hey Matt,

How are you doing? You are right, you MISSED it. We had a great day with-out you. See you next time. By the way, what goodies did you get?

It was a great first time event. I had to attend to something else that morning but dropped by at 8am and back at about 1pm. Bruce runs a first class operation and this was certainly no exception. I think most everybody was impressed with the facility and how well greased you guys ran the thing. Way to go. Just a couple of things for consideration. The display on the west wall was wonderful, but if it could be projected to the south wall, folks would be able to see the run from all the way out the door. I noticed that quite a few folks bunched around the door directly behind the truck as it was spooling up. I did not hear of anything, but a rock in a tire could put an eye out. We might consider a safety zone extending out for a ways? Maybe some quick hanging chains and posts in the blast zone? Just a thought.

I gotta get my truck on the rolls next time. Need to talk to LazerBob about turbos and clutches.

Thanks again for a very enjoyable (while I was there) and informative day.

Kudos to Bruce and all the RMTDR guys who worked so hard.

Hi Mike, doing good as can be expected, this mild weather really sucks for me I'm ready for 110 degree days :D .

I wanted to come over and make sure Whitmore didn't get lost in all the sea of people (you guys realize there was more people at the dyno than his town's population  ). I can't complain to much though, I got to rent a skid steer Saturday to play with, it almost made me forget that I was doing yardwork :D .

Goodies :D :D

I had to ditch the drag comp, it didn't get along with my new VP as good as I had hoped. I should have it shipped out by the end of the week. 99% Sure I'm going with edm's (4's) and some . 93 connector tubes (I want it to lope :D ). Going to go without any boxes and see how it does for a while, the new pump does what the box did and then some. I will be real anxious to run the dyno with that setup, it sounds like we finally have a real, good, accurate dyno at our disposal. We've come a long way in two years  .

Matt

We did miss ya Matt. But I understand yard work. Mine gets left in the dust (literally) due to events like this.

Bruce's set up is awesome. Much easier to work with then PFI. But keep in mind, that most of the results ran pretty much in line with what we have gotten off the DynoJet. Alan and Mike zipped over to PFI last Thursday to get some runs in there for comparasion. Alan's Dynojet runs and Superflow runs ran within 5 HP of each other. Mike's ran within 15 HP of each other. I thought that was pretty interesting.

I'll second that motion. Perhaps we could get volunteers from the RMTDR to strap trucks for 1/2 of the day and then have some volunteers from the Colorado Powerstroke Club strap trucks for the remaining other 1/2 of the day.

I didn't really hit me until Sunday, I was stiff as a board and sore :{

The only good part was that I got out of some yard work and had an excuse to be a couch potato and watch drag racing :D

Maybe the guys who volunteer for a specific amount of time should get a discount on their dyno runs? Half price or something? I think that would be fair. Then, of course, the Charity Dyno Day is a little different.

Richard,

It just wouldn't be a dyno day if you weren't there in your lime green suit! I'd feel cheated.

I do appreciate everyone who worked so hard throughout the day. Sorry more helpers didn't show up. We will definitely work that out better next time. I promise. Give me a set of coveralls, I'll help! :)
